Telefónica around the World (I)

Una de las cosas que más me llama la atención acerca de una compañía como Telefónica es el hecho de que tiene presencia en tantos países con culturas tan distintas que una podría dar la vuelta al mundo casi de oficina en oficina de Telefónica :P!

A parte de la interesante pregunta que me surge de cómo se refleja la cultura global de la compañía dentro de la cultura local del país en el que está (porque al fin y al cabo, la empresa son personas)**, creo que podría incorporar una sección al blog de "Telefónica around the World" y contar acerca de aquellas oficinas que tenga la oportunidad de visitar.

**inciso: no sé si alguna vez llegaré a viajar tanto como para responder a esta pregunta, hehe!

Me gustaría compartir en esta ocasión que la semana pasada tuve la oportunidad de visitar el Headquarter de Telefónica en Praga, en la República Checa.

 Junto a mi compañera Claudia, también Operations Manager en nuestra oficina de Holanda, tuvimos unos productivos días de reuniones con nuestros compañeros de Praga.

Tengo que mencionar que nos trataron muy bien y que nos hicieron sentir como en casa.

De esta oficina de Telefónica destaco que tiene el sistema de ascensores más moderno que he visto hasta ahora, haha! Y que el ambiente es también muy multicultural. Se escucha mucho inglés por los pasillos, aunque el idioma del país es el checo.

Además, al salir de la oficina, tuvimos la oportunidad de dar una vuelta turística por la ciudad, que luce preciosa iluminada por la noche.

One of the things that fascinates me the most about a company like Telefonica is the fact that it is present in so many countries with such different cultures that one could actually go around the Globe just jumping from one Telefonica office to the next :P!

This also triggers me to think about an interesting question: how does the global company culture show within the local culture of a particular country (because in the end, a company is just made of people)?? 
**say: I wonder if I will ever be travelling so much so to be able to answer this question!

The thing is that it occurred to me that it would be interesting to add this section to the blog called "Telefonica around the World" to tell about these offices in different countries that I would have the chance to visit. And this is chapter number I.

I would like to share with you that last week I was lucky enough to pay a visit to Telefonica Headquarter in the city of Prague, Czech Republic.

Together with my colleague Claudia, also Operations Manager in our office in The Netherlands, we shared some very produtive days with our colleagues from Prage.

I have to say they treated us really well.  They made us feel home.

Highlights from this office is that they have the most futuristic lift system that I've ever seen in my life, LOL! And that the whole atmosphere feels really international and multicultural. English is spoken on every corner, although official language is Czech (we got to spare a few words such "ahoj", "prosim" and "dobry den").

We even had the chance, after the working day, to go for a walk around the main turistic landmarks of the city. It looks amazingly beautiful at night, with all the misterious lights :)
